Healthy
essential oils are called Essential Fatty Acids, or EFAs. They
are called essential because our bodies can't make them, we need to
get the from foods or supplementation.
We need
to supplement an ideal blend of “parent” omega 3 and “parent” omega
6 essential fatty acids (EFAs). It is essential that we get the EFAs
in the parent form so that our systems can make any derivatives, or
alternate forms, that we need. Also getting the proper ratio of the
EFAs is essential
It is
best to use a oil supplement that is extracted from seeds such as
primrose, flax, sunflower & safflower, sesame, pumpkin, and borage.
EFAs from fish oils are inferior to seed oils due to toxins in the
water where the fish live and chemicals used during the extraction
process taint the fish oils. Also, fish oils have very few
“parents”. EFA supplements replenish nutrients which are lacking in
many of our foods.
Nature
provides rich amounts of EFAs in seeds, fish, nuts, and other foods,
but food processing either removes or destroys (turns into transfats) the naturally
occurring EFAs. Also, with our animals being fed grains
instead of their natural foods like grass and seeds, our meats
become deficient in essential oils normally found in them as well.
